Borrower insurance.

Loan insurance should be assessed as a policy in its own right: cover, insured share, exclusions, medical formalities and total cost matter.

Legal frameworkFrance only
01

Understand before choosing

A review centred on your circumstances.

French law allows borrower insurance to be replaced without cancellation fees, provided the replacement policy meets the level of cover required by the lender.

02

Look beyond price to the actual cover

Death, permanent and total loss of autonomy, incapacity and disability cover may be required depending on the loan and borrower profile. Contract definitions, waiting periods, deductibles and exclusions can materially affect protection.

03

The insured percentage

Where several people borrow together, the insured percentage determines the share of the loan covered for each borrower. The split should be consistent with the lender's requirements and the co-borrowers' circumstances.

04

Changing insurance during the loan

A borrower may replace loan insurance without cancellation fees, provided the replacement policy meets the level of cover required by the lender. The personalised information sheet issued by the lender identifies the minimum criteria to be met.

Our approach

Compare the whole policy.

Price only makes sense alongside cover, deductibles, limits, exclusions and conditions. We collect the relevant information and present available solutions without promising cover that is not provided by the policy terms.

Questions

The essentials.

Can borrower insurance be changed at any time? +

French law allows borrower insurance to be cancelled and replaced without cancellation fees. The replacement contract must still meet the lender's required level of cover.

Can the bank force me to use its own insurer? +

An external insurance contract can be chosen if it provides a level of cover equivalent to the criteria required by the lender.
