Understand before choosing
A review centred on your circumstances.
Any motor vehicle intended for use in France must carry at least third-party liability insurance. Releasing an impounded vehicle is, however, a separate administrative process: taking out insurance does not by itself guarantee immediate release.
Insure the vehicle to regularise the insurance position
The vehicle registration document, a currently valid driving licence for the driver to be insured, insurance history and circumstances of the uninsured period may be requested. For registered vehicles, proof of insurance is based in particular on the French insured-vehicle database; the document issued at inception can temporarily serve as evidence under the applicable rules.
Release from the pound is a separate procedure
Release depends on the applicable administrative procedure and the vehicle’s situation. The French public service provides tools, for connected pounds, to check the vehicle and obtain information about release. The firm handles the insurance aspect, not the administrative decision.
A case-by-case review
A previous period without insurance can reduce the number of available solutions. We present the case accurately to partners that may consider it, without any advance guarantee of acceptance or price.
Compare the whole policy.
Price only makes sense alongside cover, deductibles, limits, exclusions and conditions. We collect the relevant information and present available solutions without promising cover that is not provided by the policy terms.
Questions
The essentials.
Can you insure a vehicle that is currently impounded? +
We can review insurance where the partner’s conditions are met, including a currently valid driving licence and the required documents. Final acceptance remains with the insurer.
Is insurance enough to get the vehicle released immediately? +
No. Insurance can be part of regularising the situation, but release from the pound is a separate administrative process.
