Motor insurance with high malus or claims history.

A high bonus-malus coefficient or frequent claims may reduce the number of available offers. We review the record before approaching suitable markets.

01

Understand before choosing

A review centred on your circumstances.

Insurers apply their own underwriting criteria to new applications. Compulsory third-party motor liability remains required in France.

02

Start with the driver information statement

The information statement records useful details about the policy and claims history. It allows the case to be presented objectively rather than searching for a price without taking the actual history into account.

03

Claims history and pricing

Claim frequency and type, liability, vehicle, use and driver profile can affect both acceptance and price. There is no universal tariff for a driver with a high malus or a heavy claims history.

04

Commercial refusal does not remove the insurance obligation

Compulsory motor third-party liability still applies. When cover is refused, the Bureau Central de Tarification provides a specific mechanism for the compulsory guarantee, subject to the statutory procedure.

Our approach

Compare the whole policy.

Price only makes sense alongside cover, deductibles, limits, exclusions and conditions. We collect the relevant information and present available solutions without promising cover that is not provided by the policy terms.

Questions

The essentials.

Does a high malus automatically prevent me from obtaining insurance? +

No. It may reduce the number of available offers or increase the premium, but some insurers consider high-malus profiles. Acceptance depends on the full application.

Can non-fault claims be taken into account by an insurer? +

French consumer authorities indicate that claims frequency can be considered in some cancellation practices, including depending on the circumstances of non-fault claims. Criteria differ between insurers and policies.
